Mr. Pradeep Arora, B. Com. LLB (Academic), joined Universal Book Traders’ bookshop specializing in Law Books under compelling circumstances barely at the age of 17 years, when he just completed his schooling. That was the year 1975, when his father Mr. M.G. Arora being an RSS activist was arrested because of his participation in a movement against imposition of emergency.
He took over charge of the emergent situation and successfully managed the working of the book shop, while at the same time not letting his studies to suffer.
He was sponsored by the British Council to visit England in 1989 to study the market for British law books in India. The Universal family ventured into the publishing business under the name Universal Law Publishing Co. Pvt. Ltd.-a name which soon became synonymous with the leading Law Publishing Corporates in Asia. Mr. Pradeep Arora headed the publishing unit of Bare Acts and Manual division and created a brand “Universal’s Bare Acts” on the most pedestal in the legal profession. He had contributed the highly important and successful section of reprinting legal classics from UK, USA, Australia, Malaysia, Netherlands, Scotland & Switzerland and make them available at low-cost editions at affordable prices for sale in Indian Sub-Continent. He travelled extensively to UK, USA and Germany (Frankfurt Book Fair) to meet important law publishers from across the globe for negotiating reprint rights of titles suitable to Indian market. In the year 2015 the copyrights of Universal Law Publishing Co. Pvt. Ltd. were acquired by the world known highly respected and leading publishers “Lexis Nexis Group”. And now with three generations working together to serve the legal fraternity, came up with another venture-Law & Justice Publishing Co in 2020.
His company was honored with several Awards from “Delhi State Booksellers’ and Publishers’ Association”, “The Federation of Publishers’ & Booksellers’ Associations in India”, and “The Federation of Indian Publishers”. The Awards includes “Distinguished Booksellers Award”, and “Excellence in Law Publishing Award”.
Mr. Pradeep Arora is associated with various social, religious, welfare and book trade associations in pro-active manner. He served Federation of Publishers’ & Booksellers’ Associations in India for over 18 years in different capacities, as office bearers, Treasurer (1996-97, 1997-98), Joint Secretary (1998-99, 1999-2000, 2000-01), Hony. Secretary (2001-02, 2016-17, 2017-18, 2018-19, 2019-20), Vice-President (North) (2006-07, 2007-08, 2008-09, 2012-13, 2013-14) and presently, he is the President of FPBAI (2020-21, 2021-22, 2022-23). He remained Chairman-Media, Public Relations & Newsletter Committee (2006-07, 2009-10), Chairman-Newsletter Committee (2012-13), Co-Chairman-Membership, Subscription & Screening Committee (2016-17) and Chairman-Legal Committee (2018-19), devoted for the welfare of Indian Book Industry.
He has authored a number of articles on Spirituality with blessings of Shri Sai Baba of Shirdi, which were published in leading and internationally renowned News Paper and Magazines, such as Sai Leela Times and Sai Sagar.
He is also contributing, inspiring and motivating quotations under the column “Universal Law of Success (Thoughts for Sharing)” in monthly magazine “Lawyers Update” Magazine for legal Professionals & Students, for the last 13 years.
