Gita Ramaswamy became a grass-roots organizer and activist for women’s rights and the rights of the poor while a student. Urvashi Butalia is an Indian feminist writer, publisher and activist. She is known for her work in the women’s movement of India, as well as for authoring books such as The Other Side of Silence: Voices from and the Partition of India and Speaking Peace: Women’s Voices from Kashmir.

Neeta Gupta is the publishing director at Tethys Books, a small independent publishing space. He is currently president of the borgesian association, editorial assistant of Proa magazine, member of the Society of Argentine Bibliophiles and honorary president of the Jorge Luis Borges Institute of Studies of the Catholic University of São Paulo (Brazil). In 2009 he received the Alianza Hispánica award in Madrid, Spain. His books have been translated into Portuguese, Polish, Turkish and Serbian. In 2011 he received the Hispanic Medal in Buenos Aires, Argentina and was appointed Academic Member of the Institute of Culture of Mexico. In 2016 was appointed Academic Member of the Buenos Aires Academy of Slang. He is currently president of the Argentine Society of Writers and of the “El Libro” Foundation (entity that organizes the international book fair in Buenos Aires). In 2018 he was appointed outstanding personality in the field of culture by the legislature of the Autonomous City of Buenos Aires.

Nermin Mollaoğlu is a graduate of Trakya University, with B.A. degrees in English Language Teaching. She earned her first master’s degree from Connecticut State University and wrote her second thesis on the loopholes in rights deals for authors and translators at İstanbul Bilgi University.

After working 3 years as the rights coordinator at YKY, one of the biggest and most prestigious publishers in Turkey, she found Kalem Agency in 2005. 

She established ITEF, Istanbul International Literature Festival together with Mehmet Demirtaş in 2009.

Nermin Mollaoglu was chosen as the young publisher entrepreneur in Turkey in 2009 by British Council that and awarded with the International Excellency for The Agencies in 2017 at London Book Fair.  

She has been to 75 different countries and most of them for the international book fairs and literary festivals.

HASRI HASAN

Hasri Hasan is the authority figure of book publishing in Malaysia and has been in the publishing industry for more than 30 years locally as well as international publishing. He graduated from University of Malaya, Malaysia with the Masters in Publishing Studies. He has rendered publishing career with many respectable international publishers such as Pearson Education, Oxford University Press and Perbadanan Kota Buku (Malaysia Book City), the book industry hub under the Ministry of Education, Malaysia. 

He has been invited to several International Publishing Fellowship such as Globalocal India (2015), Eurasia Fellowships, Urumqi, China (2016), International Foreign Translators Conference, Beijing (2016), Seoul International Book Fair Fellowship (2017 and 2022), Istanbul Fellowship, Turkey (2018-2022) and Sharjah Publishing Fellowships, UAE (2019, 2021 and 2022). He has been the Project Director of Kuala Lumpur Trade and Copyright Center (KLTCC) from 2015 till 2019. He is also a member of the Book Internationalisation Committee under the Ministry of Education since 2019. He is also the international consultant for the Malaysian National Book Council, a secretariat under Ministry of Education.

He founded Bookonomics Asia, a literary agency and content consultant and represent big catalogue of Malaysian publishers and content owner. He is also the Publishing Fellow at Universiti Sains Malaysia, Malaysia.

In the field of translations, he has translated few popular trade titles by Paulo Coelho, namely The Alchemist, The Warrior of Lights and The Archer to Malay Language. He also translated many children books such as The Wizards of Oz, The Adventure of Sinbad, Ali Baba and the Forty Thieves, Aladdin and the Magic Lamp and The Gulliver’s Travel to Malay Language. He also translated short Biography for Al Biruni, Ibnu Khaldun, Ibnu Sina, Al Khwarizmi and Ibnu Battuta. For Classic and Literature titles, he has translated One Thousand One Nights (the middle eastern folk tales) into ‘Hikayat Seribu Satu Malam’ to be published soon by Penerbit USM and the recent completed manuscript is Keluarga Gerilya by Pramoedya Ananta Toer (from Indonesian language to Malay Language).

I am an editor with 17 years experience in the publishing industry. My expertise is in editing and translating text, and also in copyright trade. Now I work as Editorial Superintendent (editor-in-chief) who leads Editorial teams of Nonfiction and Children’s Books. 

Currently, I work at Bhuana Ilmu Populer Publisher, a publisher under Kompas Gramedia Group, the largest media company in Indonesia.

Books ordered from local publishers take 1 week, while books ordered from overseas publishers and consolidators take between 3 to 8 weeks to be delivered to the customer.

Our subsidiary company GUSTRO BOOKSHOP LTD retails books to schools, institutions, government, NGOs and to the general public, a service it has performed successfully for over thirty years.  The range of books available include Primary and Secondary textbooks, readers,  dictionaries, atlases, tertiary and vocational titles and reference books.

Through the Ministry of Education and Sports decentralization programs, Gustro Ltd has worked in partnership with publishers and bookshops to consolidate and distribute instructional materials to schools in over thirty districts in Uganda.

I have been working at ANTARES since 2006. The beginning was very difficult, as it was hard to convince the foreign publishers to sign a contract with a small, unknown country, which was trying to find its literary voices after the independence, to make the authors believe that the good literature merits to be published and to create a modern book market from nothing. Little by little we have become a publishing house, which has translations from more than 30 languages and publishes more than 150 titles per year.  Together with my colleagues, I have created a big “To do” list which are realizing since.

I can proudly say that today our catalogue is not only the best in Armenia, but also is admired by many foreign publishers.
